Benefits

Pay and Allowances

Job Corps pays each student a living allowance twice a month while in the program. But just like a real job, taxes are deducted from this allowance.

Housing

Our center can house 148 male students and 148 female students in several dormitories. There are a total of 30-45 students per dormitory. Each dormitory has bathroom and shower facilities, laundry facilities, TV rooms, lounges, and vending machines.

Each student is assigned to a room with two or three other students. Students are responsible for the upkeep of their rooms and dormitories. These areas are inspected every day.

Students learn living standards and social skills while living in the dormitories. Students are expected to participate in group meetings, individual counseling appointments, progress/performance evaluations, and independent living/social skill development activities.

Independent Living Dorm

The independent living dorm is available for students who earn the privilege to live there. Students can earn this privilege by demonstrating responsible behavior and positive classroom conduct. This is a coed dorm equipped with cable television, high speed internet access, and much more. Students in the independent living dorm set their own dorm rules, such as a later curfew than the other campus dormitories.

Meals

Our students are provided three nutritious meals each day at no cost in one of the best cafeteria facilities in Job Corps.

Wellness Center

The wellness center is open weekdays for basic medical, dental, and optometrist services which are provided free to our students. The wellness center also provides 24-hour emergency medical services. Weight management, smoking cessation, pregnancy prevention, and other health-related programs are also available.

Solo Parent Program

Our center has a 32-room dormitory for single parents and their children. This allows students to train at Job Corps without being separated from their children. Children must be at least six weeks old to be eligible for the program.

Our on-center Child Development Center cares for children between six weeks and three years of age. Children between the ages of three and five can attend the Head Start program on our campus. Children that are five years and older can attend the Denison Elementary School located off center.
